Madame Tussauds have given in and 'adjusted' that awful Beyoncé wax figure
EARLIER THIS WEEK, a frankly tragic wax figure of Beyoncé made headlines for, well, looking absolutely nothing like the singer.
The statue, which could be seen in Madame Tussauds’ branch in Manhattan, attracted widespread criticism with many accusing the museum of “whitewashing” Beyoncé and lightening her skin colour.
In fact, many suggested that the statue bore a closer resemblance to white pop stars like Christina Aguilera or Shakira.
After the initial kerfuffle, Madame Tussauds attributed the figure’s appearance to poor lighting.
Now The New York Times is reporting that the museum quietly removed the statue and “adjusted” it.
Here’s the before and after.
We still say it looks like Rita Ora, but okay.
Maybe it’s time we showed these sculptors a photo of Beyoncé?
Whoops!
